Former Democratic National Committee interim chair Donna Brazile wanted to oust Hillary Clinton s the 2016 presidential nominee in favor of then-Vice President Joe Biden, she reveals in her upcoming memoir.
“Again and again I thought about Joe Biden,” Brazile wrote in her account of the 2016 election cycle.
Brazile’s interest in finding a new nominee found an echo among other Democratic leaders after Clinton fainted at an event commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Representatives from Biden and Clinton’s 2016 rivals contacted Brazile unexpectedly after the health scare.
“Gee, I wonder what he wanted to talk to me about?” she wrote, per the Washington Post, in a reference to a top Biden aide’s outreach.
